Ricki-Lee Coulter Biography and Career:-

Ricki-Lee Dawn Coulter was born on Nov 10, 1985, Auckland, New Zealand,  simply known as Ricki-Lee. She is a New Zealand-born Australian singer, songwriter, radio and television presenter. She was born in Auckland, New Zealand, grew up on the Gold Coast, Queensland and began performing at the age of 15 years. Ricki-Lee Coulter started earning her name in 2004 due to her work on the “second season of Australian Idol” and given 7th position in the competition. She then signed with Australian independent label “shock Records” and released her first album “Ricki-Lee” in 2005 which included the top 10 hits “Hell No” and “Sunshine.” Both songs were considered gold by the ARIA ( Australian Recording Industry Association). Next year, Coulter joined as a member of pop girl group “Young Divas,” before leaving in early 2007 to make her solo career.

She Has Been Active Since 2003 to Present:-

The second album of Coulter “Brand New Day” in 2007 certified gold and consisted of top 10 singles “Love Is All Around,” “Can’t Sing a Different Song” and “Can’t Touch IT,” the letter was certified platinum. A first compilation album of Coulter “The Singles” was released in 2008, including the top 20 single “Wiggle It.”

In 2011, she winded her contract with Shock Records and signed with major label EMI Music Australia. The third album of Coulter “Fear and Freedom’ which released in 2012 reached at number seven on the ARIA Albums Chart, and it became her first top 10 alba. It included the top 20 hits “Do It Like That” and “raining Diamond,” these both were certified platinum. “Do It Like That” blessed Coulter her first ARIA Music Award nomination for the song of the year. Further her 4th album “Dance In The Rain which made in 2014, became her second top fifteen albums.

Soon Coulter branched out the recording music and started searching her career in radio and television. She moved to Australian Idol for the sake of season six and seven, as a reporter and presenter alongside working with Andrew Gunsberg and James Mathison. Her this role led her to the nomination at the 2009 Logie awards for “Most Popular New Female Talent”  she also remained full-time radio presenter for Sydney’s Nova 96.5 morning show in 2010, alongside Scott Dooley and Merrick Watts.

Ricki-Lee Coulter gave audition for the first season of Australian and was not successful. In the following year, she successfully for the first season of Popstars Live and moved forward to the top 60 round of the competition but part of the first group of performers who sent back. In the same year, she again appeared for an audition and became successful for the audition of the second season of Australian Idol, singing En Vogue’s “Don’t Let Go” and progressed to the semi-finals. By passing through the process of semi-finals, she successfully reached the top twelve.

Through the whole season, Ricki-Lee Coulter considered as a favorite to win the competition. Due to her performances of Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough.” Tina Turner’s version “Proud Mary,” and Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” In the final seven-week, Coulter eliminating from the competition. One of the show’s judges Ian “Dicko” Dickson described her departure as a scandal. After her elimination, newspaper spread the story that of her defeat which made Coulter melancholic. Ricki-Lee Coulter never appeared in bottom three until her elimination.

After her shift from Australian Idol, Ricki-Lee Coulter offered recording contracts by record labels including the show sponsor Sony BMG. But she agreed with Australia’s biggest independent label Shock Records. Her debuted single “Hell No” release in June 2005. This song reached NO.5 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

In 2006, Ricki-Lee Coulter joined forces with previous Australian Idol contestants Paulini. Emily Williams and kate to be the part of the all-girl singing project known as young Devas. The project was first made to promote the joint 17-date national tour. Where all the singers would perform their solo material and several songs as a group.  Young Devas produced a cover version of Donna Summer’s single “This Time I Know Its Real” in May 2006 to collect tickets for the Tour. After the commercial success of Coulter with her four friends and work partners. They prompted the release of a debut album of classic disco and with pop covers named “Young Divas.” This album peaked at the No.4 and more importantly was certified double platinum, for shipments of 140,000 copies.

In Feb 2007, it announced that Young Divas had pulled out their national tour supporting Irish boy band Westlife. Because of Ricki-Lee Coulter had headed overseas to work on her 2nd solo album. The cancellation of this album occurred which compelled Coulter to say goodbye to the group. Ricki-Lee Coulter also had some personality clash with DeAraugo. These rumors were refuse by the manager of the group David Champion. Who said that Coulter would return for the next tour of the group.

Ricki-Lee Coulter announced her personal to depart towards her solo career. To plan of married with her fiance, Jamie Babbington. Jessica Mauboy in back up and he joined as the 4th member of the group in replacement of Coulter.

Ricki-Lee Coulter released “Can’t Touch It” as the popular single from her second albumBrand New Way” in Aug 2007. This song nominates as the best performing independent single. Her version of Swedish recording artist Agnes Carlsson’s “Love Is All Around” release. As the second single from album Brand New Way. Brand New Way release in Jan 2008and peaked at No. 242 on the Japanese Albums Charts.

In July 2009, “Don’t Miss Me” released Coulter which breached at No.24. As the lead single from her 3rd studio album “Hear No, See No, Speak No.” In March 2010, Coulter a supporting act for Backstreet Boys’ Australian leg of their “This Is U.S Tour.” Ricki-Lee Coulter also part with her manager of five years Lauren Brown. “Raining Diamonds’ released by her in Oct 2011, in 2015 and 2016. Counter took a break from making music and spent two years living and waiting for songs in Los Angeles.
