Amelia Lily was born on Oct 16, 1994. She is an English actress and pop singer who finished third in the 8th series of the X Factor in 2011 and was the runner-up on Celebrity Big Brother 20. She has been active since 2011.

She is the daughter of Aranka Bradley and Barry Oliver. Amelia Lily was born in Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough and she educated at Chandlers Ridge Primary school followed by the independent, free paying Teesside High School, in nearby Eaglescliffe. She began her career for music when she was a pupil of the secondary school. By posting videos of herself singing on YouTube. Her cover of Adeles “someone like you” garnered over 1 million views. From the age of 13 years, she also writes songs and poetry with her guitar. And she aspired to be a country singer after brought up listening to it. She remained a figure skater for about six years in her childhood. She also working on the tills at a garden center in Nunthorpe, for £4.90 an hour. Which she did not like.

Lily revealed in an interview with ‘the Sun ’that she suffered bullying for five years at a previous school as she had no friends there. And used to come home crying all the time. The newspaper reported that bullies disliked her because of her different and unique style. When Lily asked to sing in the assembly, they said she “would never make it.” On a Sugarcane interview in August 2012, she told she wanted to be a nun when she was quite young.

Lily is greatly known for her work for the X Factor. She gave audition for The X Factor in Liverpool in front of judges Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Kelly Rowland in 2011. She sang Erma Franklin’s ‘piece of my heart’ and won praise and applause from all the four judges. Gary Barlow commented, “oh my goodness, 16 years old that incredible that absolutely lifted the top of this arena, well done, amazing vocals, Amelia I am blown away”.

She made her progress through boot camp to the houses of the judges where she sang “E.T” by Katty Perry in front of Rowland and guest judge Jennifer Hudson. She made it to the live shows in Rowland’s girl’s category, along with Janet Devlin, Misha B, and Sophie Habibis.

Amelia Lily performed “Billie Jean” and received positive views. The judges liked her performances too much on the Britain vs. America theme show, with Louis telling her “Amelia you deserve to be on that stage.” Similarly, Gary also gave her thumbs-up by saying, “That was a great opening to the show.” Despite all these praises, she was the first of the girls to eliminated from the live shows on Oct 9 by the decision of her mentor. There was no public vote in the inaugural live show. After her shocking quit, Lily continued her performances at the clubs. Before the 6th live show of The X Factor, it announced that Frankie Cocozza had axed and that the public would given a chance to reinstate a contestant eliminated during the first live show.

Lily voted back into the competition after getting 48% vote, beating 2 shoes, James Michael and Jonjo Kerr. Her comeback performance of “the show must go on” got critical views from all the 4 judges.

Week 7

In week 7 she sang ‘Think’ by Aretha Franklin. Despite getting good comments from the judges, she reached in the bottom two with Craig Colton. But she saved after votes of Barlow and Tulisa to send Colton through to the quarter-final with Rowland and Walsh. Who had the casting vote voted to send Lily to the quarter-final. This gave meaning that Walsh sent the result to the deadlock and Lily sent through to the quarter-final.

The following week Lily again faced critical remarks from the judges on her two performances that were, “China in your hand” and “since you been gone,” with Barlow commenting that it “really nice to hear (China in your hand) sung in tune.” It later came to know that she stopped the public vote in the quarter-final and semi-final. On Dec 4, she achieved a place in the final along with Little max and Marcus Collins. Throughout the series, she stopped the public votes for two times and was only once before reaching to the finals, where she completed in 3rd place with 26% of the public vote.

Amelia Lily was suffering from diabetic at the age of three and diagnosed properly. She is the sister of Lewis Bradley. No rumors have found yet about her dating and close relations, so she is a single and future star.

After Lily embarked on the X Factor tour, it announced that she has signed a £500.000 record deal with Sony subsidiary Xenomania. In Sep 2012, she released her debut single, “you bring me joy.” Which peaked no 1 on iTunes after its release and reached at no 2 on the UK chart. Her second single “shut up” released in Jan 2013 reaching at no 11 on the UK singles chart. Similarly her third single ”party over” released in April 2013 and reached no 40. Her debut album planned to released on April 29, 2013, and titled ‘be a fighter.’ The release of this album postponed, later it released on Feb 4, 2014.

Lily was the support act for Girls Aloud’s arena tour, Ten: The Hits Tour, where her participation was from Feb 21 to March 20, 2013.

2014-2018

In July 2014, Lily announced the release of single titled “California.” In 2016, a promo CD featuring the explicit version of “California” appeared online including two new tracks, “the best of me yet” and “u get me.”

Amelia Lily is a significant member of Celebrity Big Brother from 2015.  She competed in Celebrity Big Brother 2017and left the house on the 25th day as the runner-up behind Sarah Harding.

Amelia will come back to the musical theatre stage in the 2018 UK tour of ‘Shrek the Musical’ in the role of Princess Fiona, sharing the role with Laura Main. The tour directed by Nihel Harmen and Samual Holmes will play Lord Farquaad alongside Marcus Ayton as Donkey and Stefan Harri as Shrek.

Amelia Lily gives credit to Pink as her major musical influence and idol. She also admires Kelly Clarkson and thinks her as her hero during the X Factor, singing one of her songs in the show “since you been gone.”
